Spokesman Jomo Gbomo claimed that government was yet to address the core issues. Gbomo spoke as Izombe, an oil-bearing community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, over what they described as more than three decades of negligence and underdevelopment.
Proposal and development of alternatives:Tha people Demands that:
1.Chevron cleans up the oil spills in Izombe community
2. Chevron halts gas flaring in the community
3.Chevron evacuates all suspected toxic substances dumped in the community
4.Chevron adopts best internationally acceptable practices in clean up and remediation of the oil spill impacted sites.
5. Chevron should pay adequate compensation for the displaced community people.
Do you consider this an environmental justice success? Was environmental justice served?:Not Sure
Briefly explain:Chevron is yet to clean up the environment, which has caused many to be displaced from their indigenous lands.
